SKPodcast vol.6 - Something with “Cast” in the title

January 27, 2017

SKPodcast vol.6 featuring the debatable talents of Shae-Konnit, Dorian and Gordon.

It has been quite a long time since the previous 'cast, but as has been mentioned in said 'cast, "Life does happen."
Games Workshop was once again requested as a topic for conversation so of course we felt compelled to oblige and as such we briefly discuss a modicum of the current goings-on and possible changes to the 40k universe looming over the horizon.
Talk of the new Black Crusade and destruction of Cadia does lead us on to discuss if Astartes are really all they're cracked up to be, and if the story of galaxy-threatening danger from the forces of Chaos really makes any sense.

While we converse, we also decided to create characters for the Iron Kingdoms Role Playing Game which we may possibly play at some point in the future perhaps, given the fullness of time, etc and so we discuss the world of the Iron Kingdoms and what we can get up to in terms of roleplaying compared to other systems.

Such talk sends us on a trip down memory lane to our early attempts at RPGs and into the black, leather jacket-clad angst-fest of The World of Darkness.

SKPodcast vol.5 - Cast a Critical Eye

June 19, 2016

SKPodcast vol. 5.  Featuring Dorian, Shae-Konnit and Gordon.

Games Workshop remains a firm favourite for conversation, but we do *try* to talk about other things.
This time we do manage to shift conversation towards Dungeon Crawlers in general after some discussion of the new Silver Tower game.
We also talk about the hotly anticipated Dark Souls board game with added insight from Shae-Konnit, who had some hands-on experience in his time at Salute - the UK's biggest gaming event.
We also expand upon the previous topics of video games and their source of influence for RPGs.

SKPodcast vol.4 pt2 - Cast closed

April 28, 2016

Part 2 of SKPodcast vol.4
Dorian had to leave, so it was down to Gordon and Shae to finish the job!
Conversation turns more to RPGs and sources of influence for writing, with Shae explaining some of the NPCs he's used in the past and the influence behind them.

SKPodcast vol.4 pt1 - Open-cast

April 14, 2016

Part 1 of SKPodcast Vol.4!
Attended once again by Shae-Konnit, Dorian and Gordon.
The full 'cast was about 3 hours so it made sense to break it down into smaller parts for easier listening.
This time we submit to the overwhelming demand to dis Games Workshop a bit more, and go on to discuss skirmish-level games compared to massed combat games.
There's also a brief discussion of Privateer Press's pricing policy and the future of Warmahordes.
Just so happens that at the time of recording this (10th April), we thought PP would have to do something real big, real soon...
My-oh-my, how things work out.

SKPodcast vol.3 - Casting Couch

January 29, 2016

Vol.3, attended once again by Shae-Konnit, Dorian and Gordon.

Of course, we can't help but talk about Games Workshop (again), so we touch on the various factors that made us lose interest in the fixtures of our collective gaming history.
We also talk a bit about actually writing for RPGs and why we decided to GM in the first place; what it is that gets our mental gears grinding and how we like to present the mash of ideas that results, with some tips on how we actually do this.
We also touch briefly on what games we *don't* like, and why.
The process of GMing is quite broad as far as topics for discussion go; certainly too much to deal with over the course of just a few hours, so no doubt we shall continue talking about it in future.

SKPodcast vol.2 - Cast Your Mind Back

December 10, 2015

Vol. 2
This time attended by Shae-Konnit, Gordon and Dorian.
We're not playing anything this time, so it's as on-topic as we could manage!
In Vol.2 we reminisce about early experiences for wargames and RPGs, Vampire the Masquerade and, of course, Games Workshop. So, we have covered that topic before but we're giving more details this time; not just the what but also the why.
Also worth noting is we have moved from the gaming table used in Vol.1 so the ticks and creaks are at all all-time low!

One question that troubles us; should we talk about characters and their exploits in our RPGs, or is it really like listening to someone saying how great their kid is?

SKPodcast vol.1 - Hit & Miscast

December 5, 2015

First volume of the SKPodcast.
First time podcasting in general...
Present in this volume we had: Shae-Konnit, Gordon, Dorian and Gavin.
In Hit & Miscast we talk about a variety of topics; our intro to gaming in general, Games Workshop, what we like in RPGs and the origins of the name Shae-Konnit, all the while playing Warmachine: High Command with the Invasion of Sul campaign.
There was a lot of diversion from the supposed topics but at least you get an idea of who we are and what we do.
So yeah, a little bit of interference by noisy furniture and the general ambiance of a Glasgow tenement, but we'll work on that next time.

And before anyone fires off an email, I know; it was Col. Rhodes.
